US President Trump recently declared that anyone who says “artificial intelligence” instead of “super intelligence” is “THE ENEMY” on his social media network. The statement came after an executive order was signed on September 29, instructing federal agencies to use “super intelligence” or “SI” in all public statements, websites, and reports.
The order also got the Justice Department to use this nomenclature on court filings when appropriate, as reported by Reuters. However, it may be challenging to get people to use the term “Super Intelligence” as the order is only addressed to federal departments and agencies, and there’s no punishment for using the older term.
Due to free speech, companies, journalists, and the public can continue to use the term “AI”. Elon Musk said his company’s AI unit would be called SpaceXSI. Amazon’s Jeff Bezos told Fox News that he liked ‘SI’ because it’s more flattering than ‘artificial intelligence.’

AI can be a useful tool, but it is not perfect and often makes mistakes, which raises concerns about its classification as “superintelligent”.
Trump’s declaration has been met with skepticism, with some viewing it as another example of his tendency to use unconventional rhetoric. The president has a history of making unconventional statements, including a recent example where he signed an order to rename Lake Ontario to “Lake America”.
