Apple Music is getting a handful of small but noticeable updates in iOS 27, following a larger redesign in the previous version. The changes focus on artist pages, Siri AI integration, and subtle visual tweaks rather than a full overhaul.

Artist pages now feature custom fonts for select musicians like Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, and Lady Gaga. The custom typography appears only for a curated group of high-profile names, suggesting Apple is testing the feature before a potential wider rollout. Beyond the font change, the pages include a larger play button that, when tapped, automatically queues the artist’s most popular tracks rather than a random selection. A dedicated banner at the top of the page also spotlights their most recent album or single, ensuring fans immediately see new content without scrolling.
The Liquid Glass interface, introduced as part of Apple Music’s broader visual refresh, receives minor but meaningful adjustments. Certain interactive elements now support press-and-hold gestures, revealing hidden menus for quicker access to secondary actions.

Apple Music’s AutoMix feature, introduced in iOS 26, now includes refined transitions designed to accommodate a broader range of music genres.
The most practical update might be faster, more reliable streaming. As part of Apple’s system-wide performance improvements in iOS 27, Apple Music benefits from reduced latency when initiating playback. Songs now begin almost immediately upon selection, and buffering interruptions are minimized, even on slower connections.

Not all long-standing issues are addressed. Cross-platform inconsistencies persist, with features like library syncing or UI elements behaving differently between iOS, macOS, and web versions. Social integration remains absent, leaving no built-in way for users to share or discuss music within the app. Additionally, Apple Music still lacks transparent popularity metrics, making it difficult for listeners to gauge an artist’s or track’s relative success on the platform. For now, the focus stays on stability and minor refinements rather than major feature additions.
