iPad Lineup to See Five Overhauls by 2027

Apple is set to roll out a series of upgrades to its iPad lineup through 2027, with new chips, AI features and design tweaks slated for release over the next year and a half.

The company aims for a smoother experience.

New Siri AI and iPadOS 27

After two years in beta, Apple will launch an updated Siri later this fall. The assistant, built on Gemini and Apple’s Foundation Models, is designed to stay focused on user tasks without pushing products or providing partial answers. A new “Ask to Siri” toggle appears throughout iPadOS, and the Mac Spotlight search has been converted into a Siri‑driven search box. According to the report, the AI can proofread text, interpret conversational context, and locate files such as receipts or photos based on natural‑language queries.

iPadOS 27, expected to arrive after the Siri rollout, will integrate these capabilities across the tablet line, giving users a more seamless experience when switching between apps or handling AirDrop transfers. The operating system also benefits from the recent hardware boost that added 12 GB of RAM to the iPad Air and iPad Pro models released in early 2026.

iPad mini redesign and potential overlap with foldable devices

Rumors reported by Bloomberg suggest a refreshed iPad mini could debut alongside Apple’s first foldable phone, the iPhone Fold. The mini is expected to move to an OLED panel, though it will retain a 60 Hz refresh rate and omit ProMotion technology. Speculation points to a possible A19 Pro or A20 Pro processor, combined with Apple’s proprietary connectivity chips, to keep the tablet competitive despite its smaller size.

The similarity in form factor between the mini and the rumored foldable raises questions about market positioning. While the foldable may offer a higher‑end camera suite and a variable display, the iPad mini’s lower price point could still appeal to users who prioritize a compact, non‑foldable tablet.

Overall, Apple’s roadmap reflects a balance between incremental hardware improvements and the integration of AI‑driven software features. While supply constraints and pricing considerations may shift timelines, the upcoming changes suggest a continued focus on enhancing performance, connectivity and user productivity across the iPad family.
